Derby Winter Festival

This holiday event is held yearly in December in Commerce City’s Downtown Derby Square.  The event includes students from Adams County School District 14 and 27J caroling and competing in an art contest. Many Commerce City businesses participate by decorating 100 Christmas trees which are illuminated during the event, judged and finally donated to deserving families throughout Commerce City.  The festival also includes a special visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus, a hat and gloves giveaway sponsored by the CARZ Club, hot cocoa and cider, and cookies.  This year we celebrated our 10th anniversary of the festival!  Read more inside.

Neighborhoods

Derby Neighborhood Association

The Derby Neighborhood Association is comprised of concerned neighbors living in the “Derby” area (located in a triangle between 72nd Ave, Highway 2, and Quebec St). The neighbors meet monthly to discuss issues in their neighborhood and community. They organize community meetings, barbecues, and other events, and they also send out a quarterly newsletter to everyone living in the Derby neighborhood.

Kemp Neighborhood Association

Like the Derby neighbors, the Kemp Neighborhood Association meets monthly to discuss issues and organize events. They also send out a quarterly newsletter to the 1,500 homes in the Kemp neighborhood. This group consists of community members living in the Kemp neighborhood (located roughly between Quebec St, Highway 2, 72nd Ave, and 64th Ave).

Monaco Neighborhood Improvement Committee

The Monaco neighbors meet sporadically to address concerns and organize events within their neighborhood. The Monaco Neighborhood is located approximately between Highway 2, 72nd Ave, 80th Ave, and the Railroad line on the western side.

The Neighborhood News

Community Enterprise puts out a monthly newsletter distributed to 6,000 homes in core Commerce City. The newsletter features articles and information about various happenings around the city. The newsletter is made possible by the advertisements purchased by local businesses, non-profits and service providers.

Group Workcamps, Inc.

Community Enterprise has partnered with Group Workcamps, Inc. for a total of four years.  Through this program, hundreds of teenage volunteers, from all over the country, come to Commerce City for one week in the summer to help repair and clean homes in the area. This program is primarily offered to seniors, those with a limited income, and disabled persons living in the Commerce City area.  In 2008, Community Enterprise and Group Workcamps parted ways, and the program transformed into Community Enterprise's Summer Beautification Program.
