Cristie Jophlin Martin - Executive Director
Cristie
Jophlin Martin is the Executive Director at Community Enterprise. She
graduated form the University
of Iowa in
December 1999
with BA Degrees in Economics and Political Science.
After graduating she joined the organization
in October of 2000 as an Americorps *VISTA
member. As a volunteer she learned about
the community and worked with many community leaders in the area. After her year of service she was hired as
the Program Director and in 2004 was hired as Executive Director. Cristie works and sits on many boards in the
community and is deeply entrenched in Commerce City life.
She
is current graduate of the Leadership Training program offered through
the Community
Resource Center
and is North Metro Leadership Training Program.
Cristie has also been able to volunteer her time with various groups
in the community such as:
- Derby Business District, Secretary
- Immigrant Integration Steering Committee
- Commerce City Business and Professional Association, Secretary
- Youth Activities Task Force Steering Committee
- South Adams Women’s Association
- Read to Achieve Program
- Goodwill Industries summer mentoring program
Margarita Ceballos-Gomez
Margarita Ceballos-Gomez is a 2005 graduate of Adams City High School. Upon graduation Margarita attended Westwood College to pursue a certificate
in
Criminal Justice. She is enrolled in
classes at Metro State College with graduation expectations in May 2011. She will earn her degree in Criminal Justice
and Criminology and Spanish with a minor in Political Science. Margarita hopes to become a lawyer in the
future, is fluent in Spanish and English, and is exceptional at
simultaneous
translation in English and Spanish.
Hannah Ewert-Krocker
Hannah Ewert-Krocker
graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY with a
BA in Geography-Anthropology and an emphasis in Native American
Studies. During college, she studied abroad in Oaxaca, Mexico,
volunteered on the U.S. Mexico Border and traveled to Costa Rica as a
research assistant, where she interviewed migrant women about their
work in the tourist industry. After graduating, Hannah led high school
students on a community service and language learning trip Costa Rica,
after which she served a term with AmeriCorps as a community health
advocate and educator at Salud Family health centeers in Commerce City,
Colorado. She is an avid women's health, environmental, and immigration
rights activist. She has been involved with Community Enterprise since
the fall of 2009.
Tove Forgo
Tove
came to Commerce City
after marrying long-time resident and board member Michael Cheney. She brings with her many years of experience
in community activism. She was a CHUN
board member and campaign organizer in Denver. She
has been active in the Monaco
Neighborhood, county politics and volunteering at community events. Tove is currently working as the Advertising
Sales Representative
for The Neighborhood News and considers talking with the business
community
important community outreach. She has a
BA from Bates
College and an MBA
from Rensselaer
Polytechnic Institute.
Patty Gut
Patty
Gut
is the Public Relations Coordinator for Community Enterprise. Patty
graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a BS in Design
Studies, specializing in interior design and environmental studies.
During her
senior year, she held an internship with Flad Architects in Madison where
she worked on the U.S. Army
Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense project. In the spring
of 2009,
Patty took over the research and development of Flad’s
sustainable product database. Since
graduating, she has been busy adjusting to life in Colorado and exploring many possible
career
paths. After a year of deferment, she will attend the University of
Colorado-Denver
to obtain a Master’s degree in Architecture. Patty is a crafter
and
artist with interests ranging from beading to painting and drawing to
graphic
design. She has been with Community Enterprise since Spring 2009,
working to
develop The Neighborhood News monthly
publication and helping to refine CE's marketing materials.
Anita Mercado
Anita is a long time
resident of Commerce City
and has raised her family
her. She is very active in Adams 14 and
was a founding mother of the Community Leadership
Academy. She is bilingual in English and Spanish and
believes very strongly in providing access to resources for people in
the
community. Anita is responsible for all
of the resource and referral at the Derby Resource
Center
with the Commerce City One Community project.
Dylan Terrell
Dylan
is
the mediation coordinator on behalf of the Commerce City One Community
program
of Community Enterprise. He
received his B.A. in English Literature and History from Indiana University
in 2006. Over the last five years, he has lived, worked, and
volunteered
extensively in Central and South America where he became fluent in
Spanish, and
while he grew up in an environment of community organizing and
participation,
it is his experiences in Latin America
where
his passion for community involvement fully materialized.
Dylan is
currently a student at Regis
University working
toward
a Master’s degree.
